What Does Funding My Trust Actually Mean?

It is the process or re-titling or changing the name on an asset from your individual name to that of your trust. I break down some basics about funding in this video. Creating your revocable living trust is wonderful, but not if you forget to fund it with your assets. However, creating your trust is just the first step. Afterwards you must “fund” your trust with the assets you wish to be protected and governed by it. This process can be complicated and time consuming and unfortunately far too many people who have revocable living trusts are misinformed about how to get it done (or if they even need to), procrastinate, or do it incorrectly. Sadly, their families do not find out until it is too late. That is why we give all our clients a Pathway to Funding to ensure their initial funding gets completed and updated it over time.
